The co-curricular activities

Football

So far IY is enjoying his soccer school very much. Wayyy too much I must say. He looks forward to his Saturday i.e. his training day. It’s Gee’s turn every week to accompany him to the futsal court in PJ. I will only be on duty when daddy’s got to work. Every time he comes back from training he will be beaming with pride to tell me how many goals he scored or saved (if he was the keeper). Seronok tengok budak-kecik ni main bola tau. Nampak macam tunggang langgang but they sure had fun. The coach sangat sporting melayan kerenah budak-budak yang macam-macam perangai tu. There’s one time IY came running to the coach holding his birdie and shouted “Coach!! I need to pee pee!!” Semua orang gelak okayy!! Punyala kuat suara anak aku! *facepalm*

Kalau time IY jadi keeper, gaya over! Terkangkang-kangkang depan pintu goal. Sambil jerit-jerit kat team mates “come on guys!”. Or bila team mates score goal, berpeluk2 macam dah menang World Cup. Comel sesangat!

Last week Gee told me that Coach Matthew was telling him that IY is doing well and he is moving IY to a different team now – with the bigger kids (5yo and above). He kinda forgot how old was IY and quite surprised when Gee said he’ll be 5 in May. Oh he’s not 5 yet?  Oh well..proud daddy moment. He calls the soccer school as “my future investment”. Baiklah ayah!

Swimming

After what happened at the old place, I am still looking. I gave Advanced Aquatics a call and they sounded promising. We are going for a “site-visit” this weekend to introduce IY to the new place and new coach. The pool is nearer to our location near Alam Damai. Hope he’s gonna love it. This time we decided to go with 1 to 1 coaching. Maybe it’s better that way hoping he will get full attention from the instructor and cepat pandai. They do have 2:1, 3:1 and 4:1 classes too but we need to form our own group. Since they accept toddlers too, ada gak terfikir nak enrol Z sekali 2:1 boleh berkawan 2 beradik but belum decide lagi. Nak pegi tengok dulu and discuss dengan coach.

Martial Arts

IY is now kemaruk dengan cerita Kickin’ It kat Disney XD. He’s watching it everyday. One day he asked us “bila abang nak pegi belajar lawan-lawan macam cerita Kickin’ It? Abang nak la.” We do have plans to register him to martial arts classes tapi nak tunggu dia 5 tahun dulu. Probably year-end or next year. Tapi tuan punya badan dah tak sabar. So mama ni dah mula menggoogle la kan. But rasanya we are still waiting lah. At least until his 5th birthday. Rasanya kat Adni pun ada tapi for 6yo. So maybe we will wait for that kot. Entah lah. We’ll see how.

I have one question though, which type? Taekwando, Karate or apa? How do we differentiate and determine what’s suitable for him?

Suggestion pleaseeee.

Nampak macam semua activities IY ni ke arah sports kan? I wanted to try Art Class or Music Class too tapi big boss tak approve. He doesn’t want to burden IY too much. Sabtu Ahad penuh dengan classes dia je. He has his points la jugak yang dihujahkan dengan panjang lebar when I proposed. Ada yang I agree and ada juga yang I go hmmm. Tapi takpe lah. Toleransi.

P/S: Mommy ni siap berangan Ballet Class kalau ada puteri in future. Itu juga sudah ditolak mentah-mentah oleh pihak berkuasa. *pasrah*

What activities do you enrol your kids in?

  1. hai Put3. music class pun bagus jugak. Masa SPM dulu I amibik music.(fyi, I only belajar music/proper music education bila umur 16 tahun. itu pun sebab dah termasuk dalam kelas aliran music) I perhatikan kawan2 I yg belajar music dari umur 6 or 7 tahun diorang bright sikit dari kawan-kawan lain. Maybe sebab diorg kreatif & discipline lebih kot. Yes, music buat kita discipline becoz dia ada tempo yg kena ikut.

Bila dah ada asas music yg proper eg.ABRSM or TRINITY, diorang ni dah mix dah dengan kutu2 jalanan yg ‘konon’nya belajar music from street tu. sebab level dah high skit.

    Itu pendapat I la.

Tapi I rasa kalau nak halang pun xboleh jugak. sebab masa I umur 9 tahun, I dapat biasiswa Yamaha untuk belajar music, but my mom xbg. Tup-tup bila form4 terus ambik music for SPM. “Benda-benda ni, bukan kita cari dia, tapi jalan tu dah menuju ke kita.” (bahasa kiasan)

Thats why bila tgk biografi org2 yg excerlent dlm apa yg diorg buat (eg, Britney Spear or Chistina Algulera) **sori contoh artis pulak, diorang dah umur 4 tahun dh tau apa nak buat bila besar nnt. sebabnya, their parents peka dgn kelebihan anak tu ke arah mana.

p/s : 1 lg contoh yg baik, my little brother, dari kecik suka tolong mak i kat dapur, but my parents hidup dlm denial (anak lelaki tak sesuai keja dapur), tup tup sekarang amibil diploma in Culinary. & he’s enjoy it so much.

    • Yes art class or music class ni bagus for the development of the right brain sebab tu I pun suggest tp so far hubby x approve lg.Nanti nak try pujuk lagi. Semoga saya berjaya haha!

Haa setuju gak pasal benda tu akan datang sendiri if it’s meant to be. In my boys’ cases they play football like ALL the time. Harap2 they have a future in football perhaps? Angan2 ayah la tu.

  2. Kelas mengaji? Since IY is showing a great interest sejak start ADNI. Beza school ajar dgn private ustazah ajar.
Just a suggestion. Da’Vincci Art class? hehehe…Kumon? I was thinking nak start kumon class next year.
heheh IY ni boleh main bola sepak utk Malaysia ni one day!! Go IY!

    • Kelas mengaji yes nak anta gak. Just a matter of time je. Nak tengok his progress kat ADNI coz kat in school they are intensive jugak.
Da Vinci art class yes! Situ la yg I survey tuu. Sangat menarik! Hmm doakan usaha memujuk ayah berjaya. Haha!
I baca reviews byk cakap Enopi is better than Kumon. There is an Enopi near our home I dah contact tp lom gi site visit lagi. Yg ni pun I nak tunggu dulu. Tunggu dia besar sikit kot. Gee x favour sbb dia kata ni mcm ala2 tuition. *pasrah*.

  3. I tried a lot of stuff with Gibran. We tried art classes bcoz he was (still is but for some reason only known to him, not so much nowadays..) into arts and crafts. tried Art Workshop in sunway giza, he liked it but tetiba ada one day dia merajuk dgn cikgu dia, terus taknak gi. sigh. what to do, my guy has a sensitive soul. dgn Da Vinci art class tu.. we tried but their approach isnt really our thing. they have “processes” to go through in art (in drawing for instance).. art should be about creativity and exploring, not about following orders and specific guidelines in drawing certain specific objects. so H got very critical over their approach (H’s field is arts, graphics and animation..) and said toksah la takyah hantar la, its stiffling creativity, not flourishing it. But maybe its just the da vinci in ikano that we sent him to..? ntah la. hehe. anyway, since he was 5 we have been sending him to Enopi and oh gosh he loves it. the class isnt a burden for him and thats what we were looking for (since Gibran ni is veryyyyy lah hyper, tau!). it has helped him improve in focus. we go to the one in one utama. my sister sends all her kids to kumon and i’ve never been a fan of their method, so i’m happy with enopi. martial arts plak Gibran has been going to muaythai for two years, and is continuing to do so. We may enrol him into karate as well but right now his schedule’s just nice, so malas nak mess with it. lol ..

like it or not can putri.. anak kita ni is sorta like guinea pigs la for us (hehe..) sbb a lot of parenting and finding out what they fancy and have the knack for depends a lot on experimenting, kan. Well for us that was the case. apa yg we think gibran would enjoy, we tried aje.

    • Exactly..kita try and error kan? Tengok mana yang dia suka/sesuai or not with them.
I pun tak favour Kumon sangat coz I feel the latih tubi kinda method is quite boring. Kalau kita yang adult ni tengok boring, apatah lagi my boy yang tak reti duduk diam tu kan. Karang tak siap homework, mommy yang stress.
Glad to hear another positive review about Enopi. Will definitely look into it later when the time comes.
Da Vinci is a well known franchise if I’m not mistaken. I think the method should be the same across the branches. Hmm…I’m thinking twice now. Or maybe I should look into alternatives. Thanks for the heads up dear!
