A little update

Last week IY told me that he read my blog. THIS blog. He said, best la mama abang baca mama cerita pasal kita pegi Perth aritu. And it strucked me that I have not been blogging for a long time. I am so malas these days to log in and babble about stuff. But when IY said he loves reading what I jotted down, I jadi insaf sekejap. Erk!

He said he can’t wait to read our Bali trip story. OMG! Pressure mode on. Anak sendiri nak baca blog mak pasal trip yang dia sendiri pegi! He said he wants to write something too about our travelling trips. He requested a notebook. A real notebook, not the computer. Phew!

I have always loved travelling although I might not be as avid traveller as some people. Though my body is not somewhere out there venturing the world, my mind is. I constantly found myself drawn to reading and finding interesting stuff on places and world maps and other culture and whatnots. The Amazing Race show has been my favourite since Season 1, OMG can’t it be more obvious?? Haha!

Instagram has brought me to see the world. I made new friends who has the same interest and I build new interest I never thought I would.

Anyway, back to Bali story. Huwarghhhh!! Will start to write about it soon. Very soon. Hopefully IY hasn’t finished his essays by then. Tercabar mak nya nanti!

So I guess stories about botol susu and work and ramblings will soon be extinct. More on travels (if we do travel) and positive vibes only. Hope there’s still people who wants to read. Oh well, at least I know I have one boy who will.

2014 in one go

It’s the 20th-ish day of 2015. So how was my two-oh-fourteen? Here’s a recap. Better late than never they say!

January

  • Nothing much in January. IY started his 6yo and final year kindy.
  • I was busy with prepping my brother’s house to be rented. Repair works and all the jazz was kind of fun. Tiring, but rewarding. It’s my first time being involved in this landlord-tenant business. Making sure the house is in a good condition and ada value for tenant. Interesting business. I might want to venture doing this property thingy when I retire early nanti.

February

  • IY started his art class and taekwando lessons. But in 2015, he suddenly started losing interest in the art class and I didn’t want to force him. Rugi duit bayar class yang dia malas nak pergi. And if paksa dia pergi, dia tak happy. What’s the point? So 2015 will only be his football training at The Goal Academy. Swimming masih dalam perancangan nak stop jugak sebab kat sekolah dah ada lessons jugak. Planning to enrol Z for the football training once he turn 4 nanti.

March

  • Sold our first property and boy that was such a relief. We managed to use the fund to pay off the car loan, other debts and fixing our current home. And some investments sikit. Alhamdulillah, rezeki.
  • MH370 happened. Need I say more? I don’t think so.

April

  • Gee had his thyroidectomy. Removing his thyroid gland. He’s hyperthyroid-free now!

May

  • IY turned 6.

June

  • Z turned 3
  • We had the robot party for the boys. A full blast birthday party was held. Fuhh nasib baik la tak buat selalu. Penat gilers. I remember that I never wrote an entry about the party kan? Oh well, dah terlambat, cerita basi dah. Kekeke! But this year we are not planning any party for sure. Layan dengan birthday trips pulak.

July

  • We turned 9. Happy anniversary!
  • My little brother went to Perth for his degree. Sorang lagi adik yang jauh di mata.
  • Hari Raya road trip up north. Same ‘ol same ‘ol.
  • MH17 happened. Let’s not go there. I just can’t.

August

  • I turn 34. Tua dah.
  • We finally installed fake grass to our tiny garden. I have always wanted to have a clean neat garden tapi ibu jari ini tak berapa nak hijau. Hehe! Sedih nye tanam apa pun mati je. Chronic sungguh. Last-last we decided to just put a fake carpet grass and see how we manage. Kalau tak jadi jugak, tak tau la nak cakap apa. Well, so far it’s been 5 months and we are okay. Haha! Ada la jugak case kucing berak sekali dua tapi small matter lah. Check out www.inspiregrass.com.my in case you are wondering.
Our tiny garden. The only yang hidup subur are the daun pandan and that pokok. Self-grown je. They are the survivors. Haha!

Our tiny garden. The only yang hidup subur are the daun pandan and that pokok. Self-grown  pulak. They are the survivors. Haha!

September

  • IY’s first video clip was aired for the first time during the World Summit on Media for Children. He went to shoot the video masa bulan puasa in July. I forgot to blog about this. Well, last year memang mojo blogging agak kurang. For the summit, there was an official video clip and IY was selected to play a part dalam tu. The song was by Helen Yap and sang by Atilia. The video is on Youtube. Here’s the link if nak tengok. Z was selected too tapi he was too shy and didn’t want to cooperate. Halahh adik oi!
  • Our JB-Singapore trip.

October

  • Our Kuantan trip. Went to Kuala Gandah to the elephant sanctuary. The boys had fun feeding the elephants.
Elephant feeding. We couldn't see gajah mandi kat river coz the sungai cetek that day.

Gajah makan tebu. We couldn’t see gajah mandi kat river coz the sungai cetek that day.

November

  • Gee turned 35. Pun sudah tua.
  • Z was circumsized on 3 November 2014. He was 3y 5m. I haven’t blogged about it. But basically he had an infection on his birdie. Same classic case like IY in 2012. Luckily we were more prepared this time sebab dah ada experience dengan si abang dulu. It took Z 10 days to heal compared to abang’s longer recovery period. Z had the exactly same method like IY. Under full GA and laser (clean) cut. This time Dr Razak put a polystyrene cup in Z’s brief to prevent from the wound to touch any surface. Sebab tu cepat heal.

Taken before the surgery. All cheery and happy. Lepas keluar OT he was crying sebab uncomfortable. Boy that was an unforgettable experience handling OT aftermath. Satu ward boleh dengar dia jerit!

December

  • Z is fully potty trained! Yay! Sejak dia bersunat we went all the way to fully get him diaper-free. When he started school in January 2015, we stopped buying the pull ups and nekad to diaper-free malam pulak. Agak zombie la maknye ni checking him tengah-tengah malam buta and angkat dia ke toilet. Sian dia kena paksa kencing sambil mata tertutup. Haha!
  • My girlfriends and I planned a few playdates activities for our kids sempena cuti sekolah. We went to the Farm In The City, Jumpstreet Trampoline Indoor Park, baking class at Wondermilk and ended with the kids culinary class at Kidz & Creme (Aaron Aziz’s cafe). No, mommies did not get to see AA. Haha! But the kids had fun with the activities. Si abang kakak dekat class, si adik-adik buat hal sendiri main together. Mommies pulak catch up bersembang dan makan of course!
On their last day at Kidz & Creme

On their last day at Kidz & Creme

I guess that wraps up my 2014.

Hoping for a good 2015 ahead.

Minta ampun dah maaf if I have offended anyone virtually or personally. Yang  baik semua from Allah and yang tak elok tu semua dari kami.

May Allah forgive us all.

UK Trip 2013: Manchester

Saturday 23 November 2013 – Wednesday 26 November 2013

The train ride was a bit of a journey for us. Supposed to be 4 hours direct from Cardiff to Manchester. Tapi the train got delayed so jadilah 6 jam non-direct train. Penat la haih dalam sejuk-sejuk dah gelap pukul 5pm tu turun lif naik lif tukar gerabak. Kesian kat my mom she was exhausted. Z was okay coz he slept the first half of the journey. IY on the other hand was sleeping when we arrived the destination (tukar train). Agak susah la sikit nak kejut dalam mamai dia tu. Terpaksa angkat dia angkat beg rush turun train segala. *lap peluh*.

But oh well, we survived. Luckily our apartment was very very near the train station. 2 minutes of walking and we checked in. We stayed at Max Piccadilly Serviced Apartments. This apartment ada washing machine so we pulun basuh baju when we were there. By the way, my apartment bookings and research are all from Agoda.

The apartment is a spacious 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms with modern interior. I love the big windows overlooking the city. Walaupun gloomy, tetap cantik!

The kids were getting better when we were here. No more recurring fevers just the cough and flu. I was still on standby mode though. Kasi ubat on time and making sure they had their rests.

We went to the Manchester United Stadium Tour (of course!). IY was in awe. Mulut tak habis-habis mumbling Wow! And on our way back I heard he said “this is the best day ever!” Haha!!

Compulsory shot!

Compulsory shot!

The tour inside the stadium. Sampai masuk dressing room.

The tour inside the stadium. Sampai masuk dressing room.

Ni pun pose wajib!

Ni pun pose wajib! Z was cold. Nak senyum muka jadi camtu dah. Haha!

Okay another cerita – we took a cab from the stadium in Old Trafford to our favourite restaurant for lunch in Rusholme. Z was coughing and yeah go figure what happened next? He threw up in the cab! Luckily we were in the big black cab where we didn’t have to fold the stroller, just pushed the stroller inside the cab and lock the wheels. So Z was in sitting in his stroller, all covered with vomit. Tapi nasib baik takde setitis pun atas lantai cab tu. *phew!* I still apologized to the driver though. Driver tu relax je, siap kasi tissue rolls lagi.

The next day was spent at Trafford Centre. It’s a huuugeeeee mall in Manchester where Legoland and SeaLife are located. Legoland dia kecik je, bukan theme park like what we have in JB or what they have in Windsor. It’s a discovery centre macam ala-ala Petrosains gitu. SeaLife tu macam Aquaria. The kids had fun at both places. It was indoor so tak sejuk lah kan. Sebab tu la suka. Mommy pun suka sebab less exposure to the harsh weather. After that we masuk the mall for some shopping, lunch and solat. Ada prayer room inside complete with tempat wuduk. Very convenient.

IY had the chance to touch a crab apa ntah. A rare breed I supposed. And not the edible type. Mommy touch tak? Mestilah TAK!

Manchester has a special place in our hearts. We spent the early days of our married life here. We actually berangan nak pergi balik to our old neighbourhood where we used to live. But it didn’t happen. Tak sempat lah. Nak pergi shopping kat Arndale pun kena bergilir-gilir. Apatah lagi nak pegi Whalley Range. But we did lalu part of the hood masa on the way nak pegi airport time balik. We were in the taxi masa tu. We saw the Alexandra Park where we used to stroll and the football field where hubby used to play footie with his uni mates. Oh memories!

At MAnchester Airport - ready to go home. We were super early. Had 5 hours to kill the time. They were a handful.

Things got better after the security gate. Ada tempat main kat dalam tu.

Here’s one last story – during the checking in and security, Z was drinking his milk sitting on his stroller. They asked me to hand in the bottle while Z was STILL drinking. At first the lady security (Muslim in hijab) asked me to drink the milk in front of her. I said ok sure no problem. Then came her supervisor asking me how old Z is. When I said 2½, he said “Sorry Madam, we have to discard the liquid unless he’s 2 and below.” Maka terbazirlah sebotol susu itu. Oh well, as long as Z tak nangis I was ok. Dia terpinga-pinga je kenapa amik botol adik? Nasib baik dapat balik botol kosong.

At DUbai Airport for transit. Ada 3 hours gap.

During transit, our luggage tak ikut sekali including our stroller. So Emirates kasi pinjam their McLaren. Merasa adik naik Mclaren ye. He was in UK time. Lena dibuai mimpi.

So I guess that wraps up our UK travelogue. Hope you enjoyed reading them.

We will surely come back InsyaAllah. Maybe when the kiddos are older and the weather is warmer.

UK Trip 2013: Cardiff

Wednesday 20 November 2013 – Friday 22 November 2013

We took the morning train from Paddington to Cardiff. Checked out from our apartment and we bid farewell to London.

Nak dijadikan cerita – we were having breakfast while waiting for our train tiba-tiba si Z vomited! He was sitting on his stroller and muntahkan segala isi alam. I rushed him to the nearest babyroom and started cleaning up. Bila dah siap semua, my family was already waiting for me to board on the train. We were running frantically to the coach and barely made it. Gosh! I hate to even recall that experience.

Nevertheless, the ride was a smooth one. I loved train rides in the UK. The scenery is breathtaking-ly beautiful. IY and Z behaved well. Tak ramai sangat orang dalam tu so Z happily jumped from one seat to another. London to Cardiff is only 2½ hours. Sekejap je dah sampai.

In Cardiff we “checked-in” my brother’s home. Oh how it felt so good to be in a home. Real home. Boleh masak basuh baju and lepak seperti sediakala. Best!

The boys in front of Amrun's house

The boys in front of Amrun’s house

Z started to spike a temperature. IY was still so-so like a yo-yo. Sat demam sat kebah. Sat lompat sat baring. That night, Z went to 39.8C so we had to resort to the suppository. He was shivering and clinging to me all night long. Uwaaaa mommy felt so help-less.

The next day we decided to let go of our Cardiff city sightseeing and Cardiff castle tour. We figured the weather will be too cold for the kids to be outside. So the family went on the tour without us.

At Bridgend Factory Outlet. Lucky ada the rented car trolley for Z. Boleh la IY rest and use the stroller

It was not easy asking him to "park" his car there!

Masa ni nak balik dah. It was not easy asking him to “park” his car there!

I think we spent the least time outdoor in Cardiff. Banyak masa duduk rumah je. I really made sure the kids had enough food, enough sleep and rest at home. They stayed-in watching movies or playing with their toys or doing coloring activities. My brother has so many movie collections. Sampai nak muntah dah tengok cite minions. Even kalau keluar pun just for a few hours. By lunchtime, we are already home.

IMG_5035 IMG_5040I kinda wished we had more time in Cardiff to explore the city. Hope ada rezeki lagi to pegi sana before his graduation.

UK Trip 2013: London

Saturday 16 November 2013 – Tuesday  19 November 2013

The journey and the arrival

13 hours of direct MAS flight was a wee bit boring and tiring. For the kiddos at least. IY kept asking “bila nak sampai ni?”. He was feverish a few hours before we landed. I started to panic but trying to keep my cool. Z had his own seat this time so it was a bit spacious for him to sleep. But all in all it wasn’t that bad lah. Cuma maybe for future long haul journey, we will opt for transits. Breaking the journey into parts keep the kids on their toes and excited seeing new things around them.

From Heathrow we took the fast train to the city. Bro and wifey were already there waiting for us. They came from Cardiff to spend the weekend with us playing tourist in London.  We stayed at Grand Plaza Serviced Apartments in Bayswater. The 3-bedroom 2-bathroom duplex unit was comfortable for the 9 of us! What I loved about this place is that they have daily housekeeping service. Also it is located very near to everything. Taxi pun senang dapat. Or jalan kaki pun dekat je to tube or main road. What I don’t love is they don’t have washing machine inside the unit. Ada laundry service with a charge je.

The stairs are leading up to the 3 bedrooms

Open space living-dining concept. The stairs leading up to the 3 bedrooms. Ada dishwasher, fridge, stove and microwave. We didn’t do any cooking. We ate out on-the-go or just tapau to eat-in. Halal food berlambak. In our case, we were regular customers of TukDin!

The weather was about 8-10C which by orang Malaysia punya standard is freezing cold!

That night we just lepak indoor and settled in. Tucked the kids to bed and seperti biasa mak bapak pun lena sekali. My siblings however, went out for dinner and tapau food for us. Ahh the perks of being young. Energatic! We were like that once upon a time. Now dah masuk 3 series, tilam lagi sedap dari kebab. Hehe!

London sightseeing

We went to Madam Tussauds and took the open top hop-on hop-off bus for sightseeing around London. IY was cranky all morning coz he was not feeling well. Luckily ada uncle yang rajin mendukung. He didn’t want to walk at all! By noon he was already moody to max! We stopped at Trafalgar Square and took a cab back to the apartment. The rest of the family continued the journey on the bus to London Eye.

All of us on the double deck! Hubby's not looking. Pfft!

She's new. The last time I was here, she wasn't there yet.

She’s new. The last time I was here, she wasn’t there yet.

IMG_4800

My family went to the top. View from the London Eye. It was already dark at around 5-ish pm.

We were supposed to go on the River Thames cruise tapi due to the kids’ health condition, we scrapped that off! My mom was not feeling well too. She was coughing and just wanted to rest. We didn’t want to push everyone’s limit. Took it slow and follow the flow.

I was disappointed at first. Frust sebab already paid everything in advance. Beli online from Malaysia sebab cheaper and faster boleh cut Q nak masuk. In the end, we had to burn most of it. I thought I had it all planned perfectly. Tapi who am I to make the so-called perfect plan kan? Allah is the best planner of all. I learned my lesson. Astaghfirullahalazim.

IY’s fever come and go. He could be jumping up and down driving us crazy with his antiques one minute. Or will be sleeping all day long shivering the next minute. I was on nurse duty giving him PCM and Prospan every 6-8 hours round the clock. I just prayed and prayed for him to recover soon.

We also went to Bicester Village and Portobello Market in Notting Hill. Most of the days we started the day early and end early too. Before the kids buat perangai. Pagi-pagi biasanya semua masih fresh lagi. By 2-3pm kita dah balik apartment to rest. By 5pm biasanya the kids dah tidur. So lepas the kids tidur, we went out again for short shopping trips. We took turns to babysit.

Me and Z and my family at Bicester Village. Gee was staying with IY in the car at the car park. We took turns to shop. IY slept the whole time lepas makan ubat. Verdict of BV? Not my cup of tea.

At Bicester Village. We rented an Estima and drove here. Gee stayed with IY in the car at the car park. We took turn to shop. IY slept the whole time lepas makan ubat. Verdict of BV? Not my cup of tea. We were done within a few hours.

We also went to the London Zoo. Just me, SIL and baby sis. Sepatutnya the zoo was for the kids to enjoy. But oh well, nevermind, banyak lagi zoo lain. I took tonnes of pictures and videos at the zoo for the boys to see.

If it wasn't for the cold weather, we would've enjoyed the zoo

If it wasn’t for the weather, we would’ve enjoyed the zoo. Oh don’t be deceived by the sunlight. Sunny but freezing cold!

As a result of sleeping too early, the kids usually woke up at 3-4am in the morning asking for food or milk or it’s ubat time. Memang jetlag sokmo. All the way for 10 days. Mommy terpaksa la bersengkang mata melayan kerenah anak-anak. If tak tahan, just pass baton to daddy pulak. During the wee hours I showed them the pictures and videos of things they have missed. Other activities to kill the time was also colouring, writing and little bit of Ipad. Not forgetting – instagramming or whatsapp-ing people in KL! Sampai ada yang tanya mommy “eh tak tidur ke?”. I wish I could say “tengah tidur la niii”. Haha!

Okayyy…Next stop – Cardiff City!

UK Trip 2013: The intro

We just got back from our UK trip. Will blog about it bit by bit. 10 days worth of stories mana muat dalam satu entry kan?

In the meantime, sneak peek dulu. Sabaq naaaa!

First stop was London

First stop was London

Then we headed to Cardiff

Then we headed to Cardiff

Last but not least -- Manchester

Last but not least — Manchester

This trip was a whole new challenge for us as parents. Bringing 2 kiddos on a long distance journey in the extreme weather was one heck of an experience. Demam, batuk, flu, jatuh tergolek, tersepit jari pintu, muntah di mana jua, tantrums dan macam-macam lagi.

Despite all that, it was a memorable trip. Fuhh tak akan ku lupa anakku muntah di Paddington train station minutes before the train had to leave. Gile lah running macam Amazing Race. My mom was this close to pitam with the rushing and all that chaos. I feel so guilty sebab lama sangat dalam toilet. Lama sebab I was cleaning up Z and the stroller and myself. Haihh! OCD sungguh aku ni! Sorry ma.

Alrighty, I’ll see you in my next entry — all about London!

Golden Palm Tree Sepang

Yup!! That’s where we went spending our first few days of Aidilfitri. Us the whole family. My dad, mom and siblings too. After spending Raya eve and Raya morning at the inlaws’s, we headed to Sepang for a beach getaway.

We stayed at these water villas. I love the breezy sea view. Ahh picturesque!

We shared our 2 bedroom villa with my bro and wifey.

We shared our 2 bedroom villa with my bro and wifey. The villa was oh so nice!

It was quite a distance from the rooms to the main lobby. We had to walk to the buggy point. Sometimes the Q to the ride sangat panjang so we walked some more. Alternatively, they have bicycles merata-rata for us to kayuh sendiri. I carried IY bonceng kat belakang and Gee dukung Z on the his bicycle. It was fun! Penat. But seronok.

Z gayat naik hammock ni. Gee was teasing him dok hayun-hayun buai. "akut mama akut (takut)".

IY was looking at the sandart activities at the beach. Layan dia kejap siapkan satu artwork while Gee and Z main air kat beach.

The private beach has got so many activities for the guests. That’s IY looking at the sand art piece to work on. Layan dia kejap siapkan satu artwork while Gee and Z main air kat beach. Ada henna and batik painting too. On the right side there’s the giant balloon castle. Yang ni pun Z gayat sebab besar sangat.

Weehoo! My first go-kart experience. IY kata "mama bawak slow laa..kenapa tak laju macam ayah?"

Weehoo! My first go-kart experience. IY kata “mama bawak slow laa..kenapa tak laju macam ayah?”. He was with Gee before me. They let kids with certain height limit to ride with an adult. Cool!

Gee and my siblings went on the ATV ride masuk hutan dalam tu. They said best gile! Mommy on the other hand kena lepak tepi jaga anak. Takpe..takpe...mommy tak kisah..takut sebenarnya!

My bro, Adam (the one in orange belakang sekali) siap tergolek jatuh from the bike! Sampai lebam tangan. But he had fun nevertheless.

While waiting..IY had a few rounds of paintballs shooting. Ya Allah suka nye dia! Nak lagi dan lagi!

Last but not least, what's a beach retreat without a picture of a sunset. SubhanaAllah..I could watch this forever.

Last but not least, what’s a beach retreat without a picture of a sunset. SubhanaAllah..I could watch this forever.

Overall, the place was nice but it could’ve been better if not of the Raya season. All the seafood eateries were closed in Bagan Lalang. Duh! So we had to rely on the in-house hotel food which was nothing to shout about. Oh well, asalkan tidak kebuluran.

The staff and management of the hotel can improve better I supposed. Perhaps they were just overwhelmed with the crowd. Somehow macam tak cukup tangan je. Anyways, I heard from the spa staff that there will be a major refurbishment soon. A major overhaul with the new management. Even the name will be changed. So let’s hope it’s worth it. Coz the place has so much potential so much to offer. I would definitely love to revisit. Afterall, I’m a sucker when it comes to beach, sea and sunset.

Selamat Hari Raya 2013

Salam to all my dear readers,

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri & Maaf Zahir dan Batin

I am sorry if I ever said and wrote things that might offend any of you in any way

Yang salah datang dari saya, yang elok itu hanya dari Allah

Love,

Puteri, Shazli, Ilhan & Zayyan

I grew up never had to wear sedondon colours with my siblings. This year I told Gee, let’s do it my family way. So everybody chose their own colours. IY even chose purple for Z. Looking at this picture, Z seems not too happy with the brother’s choice. LOL!

Well, it’s a different kind of raya this year for us. A pretty much low-key raya I must say. Nanti2 la cerita pasal our raya trip kali ni. Tunggu bila mood dah datang nanti.

Until my next entry! Toodles!

Double birthday lunch

This year we decided no fancy birthday parties for IY and Z. But we made it a tradition for both families to gather to celebrate their birthdays. Masa ni la pun besan dan ipar duai nak bertemu dan catch up kan. Plus, I love to see how happy the boys are when they see both grandparents and aunties and uncles around. My Cardiff bro pulak is back for summer so it was just perfect lah! Complete set semua ada. All 18 of were there to celebrate.

Lunch was held at Hadramawt Jalan Ampang. I booked a private room just for us. It’s a huge room on the first floor. Too huge but sesuai sangat untuk the kids berlarian within the closed area. Party deco by A2PPL and cupcakes by The Kitchen Guardian. Thanks ladies!

Now you enjoy the pictures ya!

Order cupcakes je this time. I wanted to try Kak Yani's famous cuppies dah lama dah! Doesn't matter the theme was pink mint roses tak matching dengan my macho boys sebab yang penting mama suka sebab sedap sangat! Flavour is salted caramel choc ganache. *drool*
